Hello! Sorry for the delay in posting! We have had a lot going on- the last few weeks of school always seem to be crazy with field trips and other special events. In the midst of all that, we have managed to stay pretty productive in the classroom as well. On Friday we finished up reading Mo Willem's books about Pigeon. We also finished up our unit on Earth's Changes and have started talking some about the Summer Olympics. Next week we are going to revisit some of our favorite books from the past year and do some other activities to get us ready for summer. Here is what Yufan, Sasha, and Ian had to write about their favorite Pigeon books. This past week brought our annual trip to the splash park at Independence Lake. This year we also brought along 6 peers from our peer to peer program. We were able to offer the trip as a prize at the Country Fair. It was a little breezy and cool, but everyone had a great time. We took a short hike to the playground as well. Yufan braved the big water slide for the first time this year and he was so proud of himself! Thanks to the PTO for funding the trip! The peer mentors at Forsythe planned some field day games for our classroom. Originally scheduled for Monday, we practiced our flexibility and it ended up happening on Thursday! Everyone's favorite game was finding a cookie in whipped cream! Wines field day was Friday afternoon! The activities included a water relay, potato sack race, bean bag toss, basketball shoot, scooter race, base run, kick your shoe, and a nice cold popsicle. It's fun to hear our kids being cheered on by their general education peers. It was a warm afternoon, and I'm hopeful that everyone was good and tired when we sent them home! This was my favorite shot of the week. We joined Mrs. H's class for PE on Wednesday morning before our trip to the water park. Melissa Poli, our adaptive PE teacher, has worked hard this year to get to know our kids and come up with activities to help them be active! It's our last week coming up! I will post one more time as I'm sure there will be lots of pictures to share from this week's activities.
