We have replaced our morning literacy group with a writing group and will spend the first part focusing on parts of sentences. Coming up we will look at a basic sentence with a subject/verb and then expand that sentence to add more detail! Look for that next week!
Just a few pictures to share this week! Ms. Lew introduced the story, The Legend of Nian, a Chinese tale, to the kids in the week before she left. We finished up the paper dragon project she left, and also the Chinese dragon masks. Hello, hello! What a week! We had so much going on! The main events were recovering from Daylights Savings time, the 3rd grade assembly, our 4th Wall production of our play and Victors Day on Friday, as well as celebrating Ms. Lew finishing up her student teaching at Wines. Thanks so much for everyone coming out to see the show at the library and helping out with costumes. I was really proud of all the kids and thought it was a confidence building experience for everyone. Several of the kids really seemed to take to the acting and I'd like to see them continue. We will be working on some Readers Theaters scripts in class and maybe try to write some short plays with our favorite characters. Unfortunately, I didn't take many pictures! I was taking video so I missed the still shots! If you have any that you took, please email or text them and I will add them to the collection! Joey and Ella rocked the third grade assembly at both the afternoon and evening performances! Victors Day is an event put on by the Tom Wall foundation. Athletes from the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan come to the Oosterban Field House and play games with the kids. There is music and dancing with the cheerleaders and just an overall good vibe of positivity, acceptance, and celebration. Mrs. Rodriguez's 3rd grade class put together a list of 100 things they love about Wines! Check out answers #2, #6, #58,#59, and #95! ( I will have to use this picture to remind Joey of his love for math!!) Here's a few other shots from the past week! Thanks so much to Ms. Lew for all her help in what was possibly the fastest 10 weeks in history. Coming in mid-year is a challenging position to be in and she was so willing to jump right in and hit the ground running. She found a way to connect with all of the students using their interests! We hope she will be around to sub for the rest of the year! Thanks for being part of our classroom family.
Hello! What a crazy few days! I hope you have all stayed warm and your homes had electricity!! I have lots of pictures to share from the last couple weeks. Click on the photos for captions if you are curious! In music class with Ms. Glaser, each of the kids had one minute to make a drawing on the white board. When the minute was up, their drawing or words played music! It was really neat to watch and the kids loved it! Technology is amazing!
