One of our daily activities during Math Meeting is graphing. Our graph for September was Teachers and Students at Wines. Every day we drew one picture to add to our graph. Concepts and skills covered included categorizing, counting, more/less, and addition and subtraction word problems. Next week we will be moving onto a new graph and also working on tallies as well.
And just like that! We are at the end of September!! October is always a fun month at Wines. We have the Runathon, Walktober, and Halloween all coming up in the next few weeks! Hello! We have been so busy at school these last couple of weeks. September is always a challenging month for me as I have so many different schedules to coordinate as we try to develop a master schedule for the year. I feel like we're getting close though! Art and Music were able to move back into their own classrooms this past week and that has provided us with more of the routine that we are used to.
I'm so glad so many of you have joined us on Seesaw and are following along and commenting! The writing that you've seen is a group writing activity where we look at a picture and then brainstorm 10 words that describe or relate to the picture. Then we come up with sentences using our words, type, and record the sentences to share out. This shared writing activity will change and evolve as the year goes on into other forms of writing. This week we will finish up our Motion/Scientist tools unit and move into our first social studies unit next week. We have a new "Behavior Basic" that we are working on- Staying With My Class. The main take home point to reinforce at home is that we stay with our class to be safe at school. We stay with our class in the classroom, at lunch, recess, during specials etc. Enjoy pictures from the last couple weeks at school! Hello! Welcome to the 18-19 school year! I use this little corner of the web to share out news and pictures from our week at school. I try to update every Sunday, but it occasionally is a bi-weekly update. Sometimes we get so busy we don't take a lot of pictures.
As far as first weeks of school go, I'm counting this one as a win! We were down a staff member all week but still managed to get quite a bit of inclusion time in and I'm happy with the way that the schedule is coming together so far! I'm so thankful for Kelly and Mary jumping right in and we are all looking forward to Wesam returning tomorrow. Curriculum wise we have started up our Behavior Basics units with a review of our Classroom Rules. We will be alternating between science and social studies on a monthly basis this year. Our science unit for September focuses on force (specifically pushing, pulling, and fuel-powered vs. people powered movement) and tools that scientist use. Enjoy the week's photos! |
