Enjoy this week's pictures!
Hello! What a week! The week's most exciting news was that the new playground is open for business! Everyone seemed excited to try it out in their own way. We also had our popcorn party on Thursday afternoon- we had white popcorn and yellow popcorn and managed to meet everyone's popcorn needs. We shall see what we think of to earn next- it's challenging to come up with ideas that everyone enjoys. Our Behavior Basics focus was Keeping our Hands and Feet to Myself. We talked about thinking about how we do not like to be touched and so we should think about how others feel if we touch them, especially without asking. We can use our words to tell our friends and teachers how we are feeling instead of using our hands and feet. Enjoy this week's pictures!

Hello! We had a busy week in 114- getting back into the routine of school after the Thanksgiving break was a challenge and students and teachers alike rose to meet! Our Behavior Basics focus this week was "Waiting Patiently." We had lots of opportunities for waiting patiently. We talked about waiting patiently for our turn to talk, for our turn with a preferred item, and also waiting for help if we need it with our school work. We are trying to reinforce this skill at school and hope that you will at home as well. When you notice your child waiting patiently, please let them know how proud you are. Also, if an activity is coming up where you know a wait is likely, let your child know in advance that this will be an opportunity to practice waiting patiently and you know that they are going to do a great job. I have noticed at school that the more we talk about the our behavior basics in a positive way (You're staying on task! We're going to make a smooth transition! Mistakes are okay- let's fix it together!) and with a lot of positive feedback, the more often we see the kids utilizing the strategies.
In other news, we have almost finished reading our first chapter book as a class, Mercy Watson to the Rescue. We also finished up our units on the weather and water cycle and will be starting a short unit on the 5 Senses for the month of December. We have earned ninety 5-Star-Days and should be having our class popcorn party this week. I am hoping the kids can come up with the next idea for a classroom celebration for one hundred 5 Star Days. I do not have a lot of pictures to share this week- there's a few from the two days before Thanksgiving and just a couple from this week. We will try to get on the ball with more photos again next week! |
