Ms. Bloomfield has taken over the planning for the class this week. They have been talking a lot about Thanksgiving during literacy group. They made place settings and pilgrims (pictures next week!). In science they talked about the moon and it's different phases.
We had a great week in Room 114. The weather was amazing and we tried to sneak in some extra time outside. Ms. Bloomfield has taken over the planning for the class this week. They have been talking a lot about Thanksgiving during literacy group. They made place settings and pilgrims (pictures next week!). In science they talked about the moon and it's different phases. Friday was a busy day. We had two field trips going. Joey and Ella went to 826 Michigan in the morning for a writing field trip. The kids tried to teach "Dr. Blotch" all about animals and their habitats. The rest of the class went to the library to check out books and watch Mrs. H and her class perform "The Bear Snores On," with the 4th Wall Theater company. Our class will be working with the 4th Wall company beginning in February and be performing a short play at the downtown library. More details will follow! The River Residency was back this year! Here's some other pictures from the week! Click on the photos for captions! Thanks to those of you who have started following along on SeeSaw! It's the easiest platform for me to share videos of your students. Some of the kids have also been posting some of their writing projects and we hope to utilize it more as we go!

Hello! Our big event of the week was our field trip to Greenhills School. The annual event is sponsored by the Tom Wall Foundation and Greenhills. Each of our students is paired with a high schooler (or two) from Greenhills. They travel the school and participate in different carnival games, face painting, petting zoo, arts and crafts, cake walk, and photo booth together. It's a very well run event and it's always fun to see my former students. My first class of second graders is well into their high school years now and I love talking with them and seeing how much they have grown, changed, and learned. One of my students from my very first class here in A2 would fall apart whenever he lost a round of musical chairs as a 2nd grader, and is now running cross country at Pioneer, with some amazing times! Another one of my students was able to go to Washington DC and represent Special Olympics and gave a speech that she wrote! I wonder what adventures I will hear about from your kids years down the line?? =) Here's a few quick shots of other happenings in and around the classroom this week! Until next week!
Hello! Has everyone recovered from Halloween? We had lots of fun here at school on Monday, not quite as much fun on Tuesday, and then the rest of the week ended up being pretty normal! I have lots of Halloween pictures to share! Corbin managed to hide from all of our cameras- he was a trooper and did the whole parade with his mom and his platter of Green Eggs and Ham. So cute! Special thanks to Agnes for making me my Pigeon hat!! Thanks to Yufan for finally letting the Pigeon drive the bus!! In non-Halloween news, Yufan went on a field trip to Howell Nature Center where they did some team building games. Ms. Bloomfield has been taking on and planning for activities for the classroom. During November we will be reading books about Thanksgiving and our science theme is "Up in the Sky." Here are some cloud types they made the other day- "cumulus," "cirrus," "stratus," and "Thomas." Here's a few other shots from the week! Have a fun weekend! Let's hope this weather lasts!!
