Here goes! Last week we read "My Friend is Sad," our third Elephant and Piggie book. We also got to go to Mrs. H's class to read some of the books out loud. The boys had fun visiting their old classroom and I think Mrs. H had fun seeing them as well. We finished up talking about needs and wants. Ian and Sasha were able to share some pictures of our field trip to Friendship Circle with their third grade class. The third graders were really interested in what we did and asked the boys some questions. When our fourth grade peers came into the classroom, the kids worked on filling out a mad lib to write a silly story.
Hello! Last week was kind of low in the picture department, so I decided to wait a week and now I have more pictures than I could possibly share! This week we took our first trip to the Forsythe pool during our adapted PE time on Wednesday morning. Thanks to Mr. S, who supervises the adapted PE program, and Kelli Bert, our former adapted PE teacher, for agreeing to lifeguard for us. I'm not going to lie- the water was a little cold for this to qualify as a "therapeutic" experience, but the kids had so much fun. Kelli also rounded up some of her peer mentors, a few of them Wines alumni, to come and swim with us as well. I hope that we are able to set up some more regularly scheduled opportunities for swimming next year. As we were leaving Forsythe we were able to jump in the long line of Wines students participating in ACES Day (All Children Exercising Simultaneously). Every year, Ms. Wahl leads a mile walk around the Wines/Forsythe grounds. Fridays seem to be our busiest days, and today was no exception. Sasha and Ian prepared sandwiches with their third grade class and kindergarten buddies for Lunches with Love. They both did a great job making the soy butter and jelly sandwiches and packing the bags. This afternoon we had speech group with Margaret and that is always a time the kids enjoy. Carson did an especially great job responding to prompts from his classmates today. Here's Rohan reading his book for guided reading with two friends from Mr. Mosher's class. Just a reminder- we are headed to the annual Fun Run at Hudson Mills next Friday! We are still looking for some donations of food so we can picnic! I will send the link in my email!
