We have spent the first two weeks getting to know our new students, and helping our new students to get to know us. We have three teaching assistants in our classroom, Kelly, Mary, and Wesam. (Lots of photo credits go to them as they are the ones out and about most often with the kids!)
To start off the year we will be learning and reviewing some behavioral targets for our classroom including our classroom rules, making smooth transitions, waiting patiently, and following directions.
Every month we will have a science or social studies unit that we study in our classroom. This month we are talking about needs and wants. At the end of the month, I will send home an anchor chart with the vocabulary targets as well as additional worksheets to practice at home.
This year we are partnering with the Chelsea Ballet, who is providing a weekly adapted dance class on Thursday afternoons. We had our first class this past Thursday and it went very well. Everyone was engaged and had a great time. I'm excited to see how this class continues to evolve over the year. This program is provided free to us via grant funding that the Chelsea Ballet has secured.
Enjoy the photos from the past couple weeks of school!
