This week we finished up our Habitats unit that we started last Spring. Our last unit was Ocean Animals. We sorted ocean animals according to their classification, body covering, how they move, and the number of legs that each creature has. Completing this activity required the kids to use their fine motor, language, and social skills! We also wrapped up "Pete the Cat Month" and are all excited to move on to a new theme for October. Our last book was Rocking in My School Shoes. We used the words from the book to learn about nouns and verbs. Hopefully the kids can tell you that nouns are people, places, or things and that verbs are actions. We also put some words from the story in ABC order and finished up by making a graph of our favorite Pete the Cat book. Wheels on the Bus was the victor! Every day during calendar we talk about what we did today, what we did yesterday, and what we will do tomorrow. The kids dictate the sentences and I write them on the board. Then they are able to practice answering the question, "What did you do today?" Sometimes we have to help fill in the detail, but every day I am surprised by what the kids are able to remember and articulate to us. Have a great weekend!
