Are we halfway through May? Why does it feel like November outside? This week in the classroom we finished up our unit with Elephant and Piggie. In science we are learning about different ways that the earth changes (water, wind, volcano, earthquake, etc), and also read a story about how to make a rain garden. Sasha had to draw a picture of a talent he has in Ms. Yribar's class and he told me that this was him playing his uke! You may start to see work coming home that has what is called a sentence frame. This is a strategy from Project Read that is helping us remember to capitalize the beginning of our sentences and put a "stop sign" at the end. Here's an example- (where we were also learning about the apostrophe!) The highlight of everyone's week was the annual Fun Run! The weather was slightly chilly, but it was a beautiful day! We had several peers from Forsythe that walked and picnic-ed with us. Yufan and his peer buddy ran a good portion of the race and were our first finishers. Two of Mrs. H's kids did two laps (about 6 miles!!!) to earn a trophy. Here's some pictures of the crew. Thanks also to Ms. Kristen for coming along, Sarah and her family for organizing the picnic and arriving bright and early to secure a spot, and my husband, Drue, for transporting the heavy stuff and cooking the hot dogs! Until next week!
